Post Civil Rights Realignment
1968 - 1975
During 1968 to 1975, scholarship treated Black freedom as a multi-dimensional, ongoing project extending beyond formal legal gains. Research emphasized Black empowerment, community control, political-economic strategies in education, labor, and urban governance, and a shift toward Black nationalism and intersectional analysis of race, class, and gender. Methodologically, work blended political economy, social history, oral history, and cultural analysis to reveal how state power, grassroots activism, and community-based initiatives shaped freedom trajectories.
